Admissions

No student will be refused admission to St. Thomas School on the basis of race, religion or national origin. Parents of non-Catholic students must agree to allow their children to participate in all religious activities of the school. Non-Catholic students are required to take and pass Religion as an academic subject.

The School endeavors to accommodate students with special needs as the School's resources and capabilities reasonably permit. The School reserves the right, however, to decline admission or impose reasonable conditions of attendance where indicated under the circumstances.

Students registering for Pre-School must be the appropriate age (3 or 4 years old) by September 10th of the school year in which they are enrolling and must be fully potty trained.

New Kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before September 10th of the school year in which they are enrolling. New first graders must be 6 years old on or before September 10th.

Physical and dental examinations are required when a student enters school for the first time. Ages must be verified by birth certificate, and all immunizations must be complete. A Baptismal certificate will be required if the child was not baptized at Saint Thomas. Social security numbers are now also required.

When registering a child, it is necessary to present proof of registration in St. Thomas the Apostle Parish; or, if you are a member of any other parish, it is necessary to present a letter from your pastor granting permission for you to enroll your child in our school.

Our classes will not exceed thirty students per class for grades 1 to 8 and twenty two students per class in Kindergarten. A waiting list will be established once all of the available spots are filled.

The school's admission policy is as follows:

FIRST ADMITTANCE: Children of St. Thomas Parish who already have a sibling in the school.

SECOND ADMITTANCE: Children of St. Thomas Parish.

THIRD ADMITTANCE: Children of other parishes or children who are non-Catholic.

Re-registration of students planning to return next year will be done in the spring each year. ALL financial obligations must be met before a re-registration will be accepted. After this re-registration period ends, and we know how many spots are available, REGISTRATION will be scheduled for NEW students. A non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of registration.

PLEASE NOTE: Children attending St. Thomas kindergarten will have preference when registering for first grade. Students who attended other kindergartens will have a limited number of spots available.

Re-admission of students who had previously attended St. Thomas and who left for personal, non-academic reasons will be at the discretion of the administration.

It is the school's policy not to accept new students into eighth grade unless they are transferring from another Catholic school. Unfamiliarity with curriculum and disciplinary policies common to parochial schools make for a difficult adjustment for students seeking admission from a public school or home school setting.
